7th ARCEN 20th Founding Celebration

The 7th Air Reserve Center held its biggest event in its 2-decade history - the General Assembly Test of all its Ready Reserve Units (RRUs) in Eastern Mindanao during the celebration of its 20th Founding Anniversary held last 22-23 June 2024 at the Panabo City Gymnasium, Panabo City, Davao Del Norte.  With the theme - "Thrusting forward on Advancing Reservist affairs; Levelling up capacity for strengthening and integration; and Jointly Accelerating with excellence to defend our country and people", the 2-day event highlighted the 20 glorious years of organizing, training, equipping, developing, and administering the PAF Reserve Force as the base for expansion and force multipliers of the Philippine Air Force.

Several other activities were jibed with the Anniversary celebration namely the Graduation Ceremony of BCMT “SIGLAKAS” 2024 Alpha; the Donning of Ranks and Pinning of Chevrons to Newly Promoted Reservists; Awarding of Deserving Personnel and Units of 7th ARCen and 7th AFWR; and the Talk to Reservists presided by no less than the Commander, AFRC and his Staff which truly made this event a very memorable one.

Also present in the center stage were Officer-in-Charge of the 7th Air Force Wing Reserve, BGEN RAYMUNDO DV ELEFANTE PAF (RES) and the Commanding Officer of the 7th Air Reserve Center, COL MARK ALLAN I GAVILAN PAF (GSC).

Given that it was also the Farewell Visit of Commander AFRC to RRUs in Davao Region, the 7th ARCen also inserted the MGEN TALJA Glock Challenge on 22 1400-1700 June 2024 as a tribute to MGEN ELPIDIO B TALJA PAF, wherein 6-member Teams from 12 reservist squadrons competed against the Teams from TOWEASTMIN, TOG11, and PAFARU in a Glock pistol shooting tournament. The Championship Team for the said event was awarded to Team Tactical Operations Group 11.

The next day, on 24 June 2024, was the conduct of the first-ever 7th ARCen Reservists’ Challenge 2024, a skill-based competition among the 12 Squadron Reserve Units in various events, including the Drop Them All Shooting Challenge, Teambuilding Puzzle, M16 Assembly/Disassembly, and M-35 Truck Pushing Contest were held, respectively.

Competing in their respective Squadron color shirts, these Reservists' Challenge events aimed to foster esprit-de-corps and teamwork among the reservists of 7th AFWR. With the attendance of more than 300 reservists, the Squadron Reserve Right of Line 2024 was awarded to 724th Civil Engineering Squadron Reserve. Other awards given were Best in Attendance, Best in M16 Assembly, Best in Shooting, Best in M35 Pushing, and Best in Teambuilding Puzzle, respectively.

Additionally, an after-dinner 7th ARCen Reservists' Night was also held to recognize the various stakeholders who continuously supported the conduct of reservists activities of 7th ARCen, as well as provided an avenue for forging camaraderie among the reservists! Fun-filled music and raffle prizes were also drawn during this gathering.

Over all, the event was a resounding success - the reservists enjoyed the events and they are looking forward to the conduct of future reservists activities to further improve their readiness, increase their morale, and strengthen their resolve to respond to the call of duty.
