PAF Celebrates 77 Years of Service Excellence

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) celebrated its 77th Founding Anniversary  on July 1, 2024, at Basa Air Base in Pampanga. The occasion was graced by the President and Commander-in-Chief, Armed Forces of the Philippines, His Excellency Ferdinand Bongbong R. Marcos Jr. The Commanding General of the PAF, LtGen Stephen P. Parreño, led the military honors for the President and hosted the event.

The celebration kicked off with a PAF demonstration showcasing its ability to seize control of enemy-occupied territory. The scenario featured fighter jets neutralizing enemy aircraft and conducting bomb-run to destroy enemy command and control infrastructure, followed by targeted surface attacks from PAF's A29B Super Tucano aircraft. Black Hawk helicopters, equipped with Fast Rope Insertion and Extrication Systems (FRIES), then deployed special operations forces for rapid infiltration. Showcasing another potential area of innovation, the PAF demonstrated the use of the Guided Precision Aerial Delivery System (GPADS). Further, the capability demonstration also highlighted the Ground Based Air Defense System's swift detection and destruction of short to medium-range aerial threats.

The program continued with a series of aerial displays. Two FA-50PH jets performed a high-speed opener pass to officially start the program. A formation flight of T-41 and SF-260 aircraft formed the number "77," symbolizing the years of excellence and service of the PAF.

Attendees also had an up-close look at the parade of PAF Unit colors, GBADS, Mobile Air Surveillance Radar, V150 Armored Vehicles, and witnessed a flyby of Air Assets and Flags.

As part of the anniversary program, President Marcos Jr. led the awarding of outstanding PAF Units and Personnel for their exceptional achievements and unwavering commitment to fulfilling the PAF's mission.

During his remarks, the President congratulated the PAF on its 77th anniversary and expressed profound gratitude to the airmen and airwomen for their dedication to service. He assured the men and women of the PAF that their health and welfare remains to be a priority of his administration.

The program concluded with a powerful final pass by three (3) A-29B Super Tucano aircraft, leaving a lasting impression of the PAF's unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and securing the skies.
